Composites are resin dental fillings that are the color of your natural teeth, creating a natural appearance.
They are strong and less noticeable than other materials. They are secured to your tooth, whereas, the older dark dental fillings were held in by the preparation. The composite filling will not work itself out of the tooth preparation.
After an examination appointment to determine if you have decay, the dentist will prepare the tooth by getting you numb with anesthesia and/or the nitrous oxide. He will then remove the decay and place the dental filling, and adjust your bite to make sure it is not too high. Routine brushing and flossing will keep your new dental filling healthy and clean.
